Family Promise Volunteer Training

Logo of Family Promise of Greater Lafayette, IncLooking for a great way to give back to families here in Tippecanoe County? UUCTC will continue to partner with the Family Promise shelter program as it moves its new home at 2010 Elmwood Street in Lafayette. We will still share weeks with Our Savior Lutheran Church, but we will all be working at the new Lafayette location.

We will provide freshly cooked meals and companionship to families who are staying at the new shelter while awaiting more permanent housing.

In order to prepare for the switch, and get everyone on board, Family Promise is asking interested volunteers to participate in a 30 to 45 minute training session this August. We are currently awaiting the announcement of dates and times. Sessions in July that were originally listed on this post have been postponed.

Please contact Jenny Moss,, to let her know that you are interested in helping with Family Promise this year and she will keep you informed as we learn about the schedule for training sessions. On our scheduled weeks, we are looking for volunteers to cook meals for as many as 30 people Monday, Wednesday, and Friday,;visit with families in the evening from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; and to monitor the center Sundays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Our scheduled weeks this fall are September 23rd to the 30th and November 25th to December 2nd.
