Janine Cochran spent the better part of a decade racking up degrees from Purdue, ironically, none in music (though teaching and playing piano and percussion is the one job she has held consistently since the age of 16). After studying piano performance at DePauw for a year, Janine transferred to Purdue where she earned degrees in Psychology, English and Interior Design. Upon graduating she moved to California to work in the ski industry before coming to her senses and resettling in Indiana where she was fortunate enough to teach general music at Sunnyside, class piano at Jefferson, and reestablish a private studio of piano and percussion students. Hungry for another degree, Janine completed her BS in Nursing at Purdue and, building on a background of case management experience with high-risk children, worked as an inpatient pediatric psychiatric RN with Community Health Network in Indianapolis for 3 years. During this time, she met and married her amazing husband, Dan, and they currently live in Brownsburg with their darling “threenager,” Christena. A serendipitous conversation with one of her piano students, Kat Braz, brought her out of performance retirement and to the spectacular Yamaha (and even more spectacular congregation!) of UUC in West Lafayette.
