[Guest Speaker, Janice Kritchevsky] A Short Stay in Hell is an existential novella written by Steven L. Peck. It is a horror/sci-fi/who-knows-what that follows Soren Johansson, the main character, after he dies. He finds himself cast into a Hell that is a giant library that he can only escape by finding the book that contains the story of his life. It raises haunting questions about human nature and maintaining hope in a hopeless situation. It has been called "a terrifying meditation on faith, human nature, and the relentless scope of eternity." We will explore the messages in the book in
relation to other views of Hell and what it represents within the Unitarian Universalist faith.
