Sunday Service: “Antidotes and Anomie” (The Election Sermon)

Please join us for “Antidotes and Anomie,” an in-person service or Virtual service via Zoom at www.uuctc.org/sunday at 10:30am.  Our Order of Service is available at www.uuctc.org/oos. [Rev. Jennie preaching] In the late 19th Century, Sociologist Emile Durkheim introduced the concept of "Anomie" as a breakdown or absence of social and moral norms, leading to a sense of rootlessness and confusion for individuals and societies. In our time, especially in this election season, those concerns sound hauntingly familiar. But there are antidotes to anomie that can restore our sense of purpose, values, and trust. We have been engaging in those restorative practices. As long as we continue doing so, hope is on the horizon.
