I. Introduction

Members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tippecanoe County (UUCTC) encourage the use of our building by individuals and groups within the community who respect the values of our church. The UUCTC affirms the inherent worth and dignity of every person and as such will deny use of space requests from any individual or group that discriminates on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, national origin, disability or age.

The UUCTC reserves the right to deny or refuse use of any space to any group or individual due to staff, administrative, maintenance or safety considerations.

II. Denials

Requests that are inconsistent with our mission and Seven Principles, conflict with currently scheduled activities, or impact the availability of the facility for UUCTC ministry will not be approved. Requests that have potential to compromise our 501(c)(3) status will not be approved e.g. participate or intervene in any political campaign (including publishing or distributing statements) on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office.

III. How to schedule

Complete the appropriate building use agreement, along with the corresponding reservation deposit, and send to UUCTC, 333 Meridian Street, West Lafayette, IN 47906, Attn: Building Use. Once the building use agreement form and deposit are received, the form will be reviewed by the President-Elect, Board of Trustees. Some requests may require approval of the Board of Trustees, Program Council and/or the Minister.

Reservation Payment: a non-refundable reservation deposit and a completed building use agreement are required to have the event placed on the church calendar. No exceptions are made The deposit will be credited to the full fee at the time of that payment.

The damage deposit and full fee must be received three weeks prior to the event. Once the fees are paid in full, a request will be submitted to the safety committee to assign a building entry code.

Scheduling a church-sponsored event in our building

Our church hosts numerous all church events, such as social justice programming, fundraising events, socials, and congregational meetings. All-church events are described by this policy. If are you planning an all church event using space at our church, please follow the process below to have the space reserved and the event posted on the all church calendar.

  • Contact the Program Council Chair (the Past President) at least six weeks in advance of the event with all relevant information so the discussion can be added to the agenda.
  • It is recommended that you attend that Program Council meeting to discuss the event so it can be approved.
  • Program Council meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm in Rooms 101/103. If the event is approved, the Program Council chair will have it placed on the church calendar.
  • If you cannot attend Program Council meeting, contact the Program Council Chair (Past President) with a description of the event and who will be in charge so it can be discussed and approved at Program Council.
